PNACOH - History
We are Registered Nurses who have a Filipino ancestry from the Philippines. We are part of the Philippine Nurses Association of America.
The Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) was formed in response to the need for a concerted effort to deal with the problems encountered by Filipino nurses in the United States. The PNAA of New Jersey altogether with the different independent PNAA chapters formed the National Federation of PNAA Association in the United States called the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA). The national association was established on April 29, 1979.
Presently, PNAA comprises more than fifty (55) chapters and about five thousand (5,000) ACTIVE members across the USA. PNAA offers its members mentorship, leadership development, and educational programs essential for professional advancement through its regional, national, and international conferences in the U.S. and in the Philippines. The Leadership Institute provides career development, team-building activities, and organizational skills programs for rising and future leaders of PNAA. The PNAA actively advocates and collaborates with other organizations/agencies to address and support policy development and legislation that affect the nursing profession, minority health, and diversity in the workforce.
